I’m Md Meraj — Woodworker, Furniture Maker & Founder of Woodworking Advisor

My name is Md Meraj. I’ve been working with wood professionally for over 12 years — and obsessively for much longer than that.

I grew up experimenting with tools, taking things apart, and building things from scratch. That early curiosity eventually turned into a career in woodworking, interior design, and furniture making. Today, I run a furniture business that has been operating for over 7 years, and I created Woodworking Advisor to share everything I’ve learned along the way.

What I Know

Over the past 12+ years I’ve worked across virtually every area of woodworking:

  • Wood finishing & staining — tested dozens of stains, sealers, and topcoats from brands like Minwax, Behr, Cabot, and Rubio Monocoat
  • Deck building & outdoor wood — pressure-treated lumber, deck stains, composite vs. natural wood decisions
  • Furniture making — solid wood joinery, hardwood selection, surface prep and finishing
  • Lumber & materials — plywood grades, dimensional lumber, MDF, LVP, and everything in between
  • Tools — circular saws, miter saws, routers, sanders — hands-on with all of them

I’ve also completed formal studies in interior design and hold certifications in the woodworking field, which gave me a structured foundation to complement years of shop experience.

Why I Built This Site

Most woodworking content online is written by people who have never actually picked up a board. Generic advice, recycled tips, no real-world testing behind any of it.

I built Woodworking Advisor to be different. Every guide, product recommendation, and calculator on this site comes from direct, hands-on experience. If I haven’t tested it myself or used it on a real project, I don’t publish it.

The site now covers hundreds of topics — from choosing the right wood stain to calculating deck boards — and helps tens of thousands of woodworkers every month make faster, smarter decisions.
