What the JS365 Does Well

Start with the parts that matter on a job site. The toolless blade change means you can swap a T-shank blade without hunting for a hex key, and the Amazon listing describes a blade ejection lever so you do not have to grab a hot blade. Variable speed comes from two controls: a dial sets the maximum speed and the trigger sets the working speed, so you can run a low ceiling for laminate or metal and still feather the trigger.

• Four orbital settings. Orbital action moves the blade forward into the cut on the upstroke. More orbit cuts faster and rougher; less orbit cuts slower and cleaner. Having four steps gives you room to match the material.
• Dust blower with a switch. Blowing chips off the layout line matters most when you follow a pencil mark in pale wood.
• Die-cast base with a steel insert. A rigid shoe helps keep the blade square when you tilt the base for a bevel.
• Full accessory kit. The overshoe, anti-splinter insert and hard case are in the box, accessories that some saws sell separately.

Does the Bosch JS365 Have a Dust Blower? (Correcting a Common Claim)

Several older write-ups, including the previous version of this page, say the JS365 has no dust blower and comes with a dust collection kit. Both statements are wrong based on Bosch’s own documentation. The spec page lists a dust blower with an on/off switch, and the Amazon feature list describes an adjustable blower. The dust collection accessory people mention is a separate purchase. If you need chips pulled into a vacuum rather than blown away, plan on a saw with a dust port, or accept the blower and wear eye protection.

The same check applies to the LED light. Bosch’s JS365 spec list does not include one, while the JS572EK page does list an LED with an on/off switch. If working light matters in a dim garage, that is a real difference between the two.

Where the JS365 Falls Short

• Cutting depth. 3-1/2 inches in soft wood is fine for 2x lumber and thick shelving, but it is the lowest of the three Bosch corded saws compared below. For a beam cut, a circular saw or reciprocating saw is the better tool.
• Corded only. You are tied to an outlet or extension cord. Bosch sells 18V cordless jig saws if that is a dealbreaker.
• Weight. At 5.35 lb it is lighter than the JS470EB (5.9 lb) but not light enough for long overhead work.
• No LED in the spec list. See above.
• Short warranty. Bosch lists a 1-year limited warranty on corded tools.

The information the spec pages do not make obvious is the price curve. The JS365 is cheapest per inch of rated depth, but the JS470EB is close behind and buys you 2-3/8 inches more cutting depth for $90 more. The JS572EK costs $160 more than the JS365 for two extra inches of depth plus an LED and a larger 7.2-amp motor. Capacity ratings are maximums, so treat the per-inch figure as a way to compare listings, not as a promise about cut quality.

Grip style is the other real choice. Top-handle saws like the JS365 put your hand above the blade for downward pressure on flat sheet work, while barrel-grip saws like the JS470EB sit lower and are often preferred for tight curves and vertical cuts.
